New Year’s Eve: The Last Night of 2025 at a Quiet Bar

2026.10.05

In short: on the last night of 2025, owner Mika Tanimoto explains why Bar Little Happiness in Hiroshima never holds a New Year’s countdown — a quiet bar for people who value good drinks and calm time, and who understand each other without many words.

2025 has finally reached its last day.

There was a time when I thought, “It’s a bar, so shouldn’t we liven up New Year’s Eve with a countdown?”

and I tried my best to do party-people things.

But now, at this age, I have finally made peace — in a good way — with who I am.

“Ah, rather than forcing myself to be cheerful, this quiet tone is what feels most like me” (laughs).

On the surface I think I smile and I’m fairly friendly.

People who only see me from the outside probably haven’t noticed…?!

But the guests who sit at the Little Happiness counter… you’ve probably seen right through me.

The truth is, being somewhere loud and boisterous exhausts me and I lose the will to talk.

Guests often say, “The people who come here are mostly calm,”

and I suppose birds of a feather flock together.

I think the introverted part at my core reaches, beyond words, everyone who is looking for the same atmosphere.

That comfort of understanding each other without saying much.

Even without knowing each other’s names or jobs, we resonate deeply on one point: “we want to treasure good drinks and quiet time.”

So this year’s New Year’s Eve at Little Happiness was the same as always.

No countdown event.

And we close gently at 23:30.

A little place to pass the time before heading somewhere lively.

Or for when you want to quietly reward yourself at the end of the year, away from the crowds.

There’s no “let’s all party!” energy,

but we can quietly nod to each other in our hearts: “It was a good year again.”

I hope you can spend that kind of New Year’s Eve with us.

To everyone who chose Little Happiness in 2025:

thank you so much.

I wish you a calm and happy New Year.

Every encounter is meant to be. Welcome to the world of Rum&Whisky.
